Dejavu Fiberwig Mascara

I'm still searching for my Holy Grail Mascara. My lashes are short and stick straight. So I want a mascara that does it all. Volume, length, curl, waterproof and easy to remove. I want everything.

Being a bit of a drama queen, I also want mascara that makes me look like I've put on mascara. You know, one that makes me look like I've got false lashes on.

Imagine my excitement, then, when I spied the Dejavu Fiberwig mascara at Sasa. At SGD 25 it wasn't exactly cheap but it wasn't that expensive either. You can always forgo those cups of latte, right?

Anyway, it's apparently the best-selling mascara in Japan. According to the copy on the packaging (which by the way has too much plastic for me), it's 'Beyond Mascara! It's Paint-On False Lashes!' (exclamation marks included!).

With the unique Japanese take on language, the copy further promises that with Fiberwig, 'Happy infinite romances occur in a newborn oasis. Wink your future!" Now, who could resist that?

The mascara comes in a red tube with cute eyes winking at you (presumably that's how your eyes or rather lashes would look too with the mascara). The brush is rather large, though not as large as my Maybelline Volum' Express Hypercurl.

What makes this mascara unique are the fibers in the formula. When you unscrew the brush from the tube, little fibers attach themselves to your brush. These fibers then attach themselves to the ends of your lashes, coating and lengthening them.

You can apply as many layers as you want and the fibers will just keep sticking to the ends of your lashes, and remain there until you remove the mascara. However, you have to be pretty quick before the previous coat dries.

After 2-3 coats, my lashes looked really long. However, do note that this mascara does not add volume since the fibers coat your existing lashes. Nor does it curl so you would still need to use an eyelash curler before applying it.

Also, if you do not let the mascara dry properly, you may experience a little bit of flaking. But those are just the fibers that did not attach to your lashes properly, and they are easily removed with tissue.

This mascara doesn't smudge and you won't get racoon's eyes at the end of the day. It is also easily removed with warm water. The fibers come off like little lashes so don't be alarmed. Those are the fibers coming off, not your lashes.

Not my HG mascara but definitely wearable.
